Today we want to save your child these unpleasant memories, we aim it to grow up with healthy teeth and with trust and sympathy to its dentist. We don’t want it to associate the visits to the dental office with pain and discomfort. Today we offer color fillings, playing with the chair, we allow our little patients to “assist” us and even to change roles for a while. When the child understands from early age why the teeth are so important and what are they useful for, it will help them to be healthy.
How? By turning the dental care into a game that establishes a habit of correct and systematic care for the milk teeth. A habit that will carry on with the permanent teeth.
To achieve all this in a calm and friendly atmosphere, it is important to visit the dentist for the first time in the age of 2,5 – 3 years.
At this time all milk teeth are available. In this visit we lay the foundations of the so important in the pediatric dentistry trust. With “its dentist“ the child meets the dental chair, the lamp, the dental mirror, the elephants nose (aspiration) and many other colorful “riches”, while nothing “bad” happens to it.
The milk teeth have many functions – by eating, talking, mimics and aesthetics. They support the right growth, development and function of the stomatognathic system. That`s why it is so important to keep them healthy.
The cooperation and surveillance of the parents are very important part of the children’s teeth dental care. We will help you to be good informed and to feel confident by the small daily steps that you do with the little ruffians.
We offer you a short look at the main stages in the evolution of the child’s teeth and when to what you should pay attention.

| 6 months – 2 years: Eruption of all milk teeth | With 6 months first teeth should start erupting. Until round 2,5 years 20 milk teeth available, deviation of round 6 months is normal. | With the eruption of the first teeth possible impaired general condition, symptoms similar to cold. The oral hygiene is completely care of the parents – teeth get cleaned with children brushes and tooth paste, once a day enough. Wean from the pacifier after eruption of the first teeth, until age of 1 year, child should drink from a cup. Sucking the finger is a very bad habit. No extra sweetened liquids, especially after going to bed. |
| 2 - 6 years: Period of care and keeping of milk teeth | First visit to the dentist. Around age of 6 eruption of the first permanent teeth – molars (often remain unnoticed), then we switch to grown up tooth paste. | Around age of 3 you have to educate in the child interest and willingness for taking care of its teeth, brushing must be fun! Parents brush after the kids, to be sure in the end result. Brushing twice a day. Watch for new brown dots or spots (milk teeth caries). If some of the teeth changes its color, without intervention, may be a sign for trauma, the parents haven’t witnessed. |
| 6 – 12 years: Period of mixed dentition | After eruption of the first four molars, until age of 8, also the front teeth change. Pause is following. Between 10 and 12 years also the rest of the milk teeth fall out. *The periods are conditional and aim to give you orientation when there may be something wrong. | Parents watch for: spots, strange colors, serious unevenness on the surface, anomalies in the form or position of the teeth, visible gum inflammations, serious deviation from the given eruption times of the permanent teeth. |
Prophylaxis:
For additional strengthening of the teeth, we may apply fluorine gel once a week or fluorine lack 2-4 times per year. By raised caries risk, the dentist may recommend additional actions for supporting the enamel of the children’s teeth.
